A benefit for Auburn Ski Club's Junior Nordic skiers and
The Tahoe Forest Hospital Foundation's cancer prevention programs

We are excited to be growing the event to its former glory and to being part of two great mountain running series this year -  The local Tahoe Trilogy, and The La Sportiva Mountain Cup.

We are planning chip timing for faster results, a more streamlined morning registration, more T.shirts & to respond to several requests - we will have 2008 beer mugs.

Lake Tahoe - one of the largest, deepest and purest alpine lakes on earth and the towering peaks of the High Sierra, and the California sunshine make Squaw Valley is one of the world’s most famous and beautiful outdoor playgrounds.

The Squaw Valley Mountain Run  is the perfect opportunity for you to experience this region on your own two feet and celebrate the summer season in the Sierra.

For the past 27 years, on the first Saturday of August, hundreds runners and hikers have made the annual pilgrimage to the top of Squaw Valley to enjoy a great workout with stunning views of Lake Tahoe and the High Sierra.

Starting at the base of Squaw Valley USA (6200’) the course climbs the 3.6 mile mountain run to High Camp (8200’) where awards, raffle, music refreshments & beer are provided.

Participants can choose to run or take a more leisurely pace and hike or Nordic walk (hike with poles).  For the less energetic – let the cable car do the 2000 foot elevation gain & participate in the beautiful 3 mile flower walk on easy rolling terrain.

For many the event has become a way to celebrate life following personal struggles with cancer or in memory of a loved one who may have been less fortunate.  A portion of the proceeds will go to help support ongoing cancer prevention programs in the Tahoe area.

All participants in the run / hike and flower hike will be entered in the raffle for some great prizes. Awards for the uphill competitors will be given for top 3 places in 5 year age categories.

Registration via active.com available in early 2008
